UMCA bioenergy symposium to be streamed live Jan. 12

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Center for Agroforestry at the University of Missouri will offer a live video stream of its upcoming symposium, "Meeting Renewable Energy Goals: Role of Bioenergy Crops," Wednesday, Jan. 12.

The symposium begins at 9:30 a.m. and will run until 5:10 p.m., with a lunch break from 12:10-1:30 p.m.

"We are excited to bring this informative and timely program to a national audience via the Internet," said Dr. Shibu Jose, director, The Center for Agroforestry. "We are offering an entire day of nationally-known speakers on how bioenergy crops will fit into our nation's energy goals. We hope as many people as possible will take advantage of the opportunity to hear what these experts have to say on the topic."

The program features a keynote address from Steve Flick, Chair of the Board of Directors of Show Me Energy Cooperative. Flick will speak on "Real Green from Real Green" beginning at 9:50 a.m. The entire program can be found online at http://www.centerforagroforestry.org/

The symposium itself is free and open to the public. Registration is requested by contacting Julie Rhoads, rhoadsj@missouri.edu. Walk-in registrations will be accepted, although parking permits will not be guaranteed to day-off registrants. The event will be held in Conservation Hall in the Anheuser-Busch Natural Resources Building, on the University of Missouri campus. Posters will be on display beginning at 8:30 a.m.; a reception will follow the symposium.
